Peering with NREN
Peering Example

Peering is the arrangement of network traffic exchange between networks. The purpose is to extend the reach of a network to destinations that are not physically part of the network infrastructure. NREN currently peers with multiple NASA Local Area Networks, federal and academic networks, such as ESnet and Internet2's Abilene network. NREN currently has peering points at NGIX-West in Northern California, NGIX-East in College Park Maryland, and Pacific Wave in Sunnyvale, CA. NREN has peering agreements with other high-speed federal and research networks, including the Department of Defense's Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN), the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the NASA Integrated Services Network (NISN), National Lambda Rail (NLR), and the Corporation for Education Initiatives in California (CENIC).
